The Hellenic Community in London acquired a 1200m” building off Marylebone High Street and altered and refurbished to create a cultural and community centre.
The building was constructed in the early 1900’s and was originally designed as a college of Swedish Gymnastics.
The Hellenic Centre provides a multipurpose Grand Hall, which is used for exhibitions, concerts, lectures and conferences. A commercial kitchen also allows for this to be used for dinner functions. There is a members room, a cafeteria, library and meeting rooms.
The Hellenic Centre is a vibrant cultural organisation providing a focus for the Hellenic community. It promotes an awareness of Hellenic culture in the UK and nurtures the unique relationship between Britain and the Hellenic world. The Centre offers a rich programme of lectures, exhibitions, concerts, social events and Greek language courses.
WPA were involved at the outset, from assisting the client in identifying and procuring the premises, to obtaining all necessary Planning and Building regulation consents to develop the Centre for the Community.
